Get to Know Ankita Goyal: Driving product innovation and enabling dream careers through top-tier hiring

Vice President, Technical Recruiting, JPMorganChase

Ankita Goyal’s journey into technical recruiting was quite organic. She never specifically set out to become a recruiter, especially since there isn’t a formal educational path for this profession. When she moved to this country in year 2000 during the Y2K boom, recruiters were in high demand, which presented a unique opportunity.

With an MBA in Personnel Management, Ankita found that her passion for connecting with people and helping them matched perfectly with the needs of technology. Once Ankita entered the field, she realized how much she enjoyed the work and how well it suited her strengths and background. Ankita continues to find fulfillment in helping others build their careers and is proud to contribute to JPMC’s growth in the tech sector.

What Ankita enjoys most about recruiting is the opportunity to guide people toward the right job, acting as a consultant who helps them find their best fit. It’s incredibly rewarding to know that hiring the right talent directly contributes to a company’s success, since people are truly its greatest asset. Ankita is grateful for the trust placed in her, and finds it especially meaningful when candidates, hiring managers, and leaders express their appreciation for the impact recruiters make.

One of Ankita’s most gratifying experiences has been building both the Palo Alto and Seattle tech centers for JPMC from the ground up, along with supporting several acquired companies. Seeing this growth and knowing she played a part in it makes her very proud.

We’re excited for you to get to know Ankita Goyal, yet another person who makes Stanford Research Park a unique and special place.

I am absolutely determined to continue building strong communities, both professionally and personally. Recruiting is my passion, but what truly drives me is creating a sense of belonging and connection among people.

What is a risk you took that paid off?

A significant risk I took was leaving Meta in 2019, during its peak hiring period, to join JPMC. At the time, moving from a leading tech company to a bank felt uncertain, especially since JPMC, despite being the number one bank in the US, didn’t have a strong tech presence in Silicon Valley. However, the opportunity to build an entire tech center from scratch was too compelling to pass up. This decision paid off tremendously, offering me valuable learning experiences, personal growth, and the chance to contribute to something truly impactful. Looking back, I’m proud of the success and progress we’ve achieved.

What are you absolutely determined to do?

I am absolutely determined to continue building strong communities, both professionally and personally. Recruiting is my passion, but what truly drives me is creating a sense of belonging and connection among people. At JPMC Palo Alto, we have built a great culture and community that I am very proud of. In my personal life, my friends and I formed a community of over 200 dog parents in the city I live in, working with the city to establish off-leash dog hours in various parks. Making a positive impact and bringing people together is something I am deeply committed to.

What skill would you like to master?

With the rapid advancement of AI, I am eager to master how artificial intelligence can enhance and transform my work. I want to learn how AI can streamline recruiting processes, improve decision-making, and create better experiences for both candidates and hiring managers. Understanding and leveraging AI tools will be essential for staying ahead in the industry. I’m excited about the possibilities and determined to develop this skill to make a meaningful impact in my field.

What is the best advice you’ve ever received?

The best advice I ever received came from my mother, who always encouraged me to follow my dreams with sincerity and hard work. As the first woman in my family to earn a professional degree, I often heard advice from others to focus on household work and cooking instead. However, my mom believed in my ambitions and supported me every step of the way. Her guidance to pursue my goals wholeheartedly has stayed with me throughout my life. I still live by her words, and they have played a big role in shaping who I am today.

What is your favorite day-off activity or destination?

On weekends, whether it’s a sunny or foggy day, my favorite activity is taking long walks with my dog on the beach. We love exploring beautiful spots like Santa Cruz, Half Moon Bay, and Fort Funston. There’s something incredibly relaxing about being by the ocean and enjoying the fresh air with my dog. These moments help me recharge and appreciate the simple joys in life.
