VTA
SMARTPASS

With the SmartPass, employees at many Stanford Research Park companies can ride VTA buses for free!

Participating Employers

The Stanford Research Park SmartPass program is available to all employers in the Research Park. Employers choosing to participate receive VTA SmartPasses for all of their employees located in Stanford Research Park.

The companies listed below are current employer participants, and employees at these companies may request a SmartPass to receive free fare on VTA buses.

Additionally, those who receive a SmartPass and live in the eligible East Bay Dumbarton Express Bus (DB1) service area can request that an EasyPass - for free fare on AC Transit - be added to their SmartPass.

To use your SmartPass Clipper Card on bus and light rail, touch the Clipper Card logo to the card reader at the front of the bus or on the light rail platform. Make sure to hold the card flat until you hear a single beep and see a green light.

SmartPass Clipper Cards do not provide free or discounted fare on Caltrain, SamTrans, Dumbarton Express, MUNI or BART. However, you may add value to your SmartPass Clipper Card with your personal funds and then use your SmartPass Clipper Card on those transit systems. Applicable fares will be deducted from the funds you add to your SmartPass Clipper Card.

You can contact our Stanford Research Park Transportation team at SRPGO@Stanford.edu with any questions.

I take public transportation because it’s a breeze commute. You don’t have to worry about driving to work and dealing with being stuck in traffic or paying for tolls. Plus it’s more environmentally friendly. It’s also about peace of mind—I catch up on my Podcasts, or if there’s work to do, I can do that on the bus as well. It’s free, you can take a nap, and it’s just such a convenient factor for me.
